There’s no shortcut from raw clay to a finished piece—only a series of small, deliberate steps.
It begins at the wheel. A lump of clay is centered, opened, and slowly shaped by hand. Pressure, water, and movement work together until a form begins to emerge. Each piece is slightly different—guided, but never forced.
Once shaped, the work rests. Drying takes time, and timing matters. Too soon, and it warps. Too late, and it cracks. When ready, each piece is trimmed, refined, and smoothed before its first firing.
After the bisque firing, glaze is applied—sometimes dipped, sometimes poured. This is where unpredictability enters. Heat transforms everything. What goes into the kiln is never exactly what comes out.
The final result carries all of it: the marks, the movement, the process. Nothing hidden. Nothing rushed.
